Comparison
Compare the Fluval T Series adjustable heaters
Fluval's T Series contains five separate adjustable heater configurations, not one heater with a retailer-chosen wattage label. The US family table pairs each item number and UPC with a specific power rating, maximum aquarium volume and listed length. The family page presents five models on one comparison page rather than a paginated set of separate size cards; the broader Fluval heater archive separately lists the family members. The figures below are manufacturer specifications, not measurements of tank performance.
Five US configurations
| Model | Item / UPC | Power at 120 V / 60 Hz | Fluval's aquarium maximum | Listed length |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| T50 | 14880 / 015561148801 | 50 W | 15 US gal / 50 L | 10.5 in / 26.5 cm |
| T100 | 14881 / 015561148818 | 100 W | 30 US gal / 100 L | 10.5 in / 26.5 cm |
| T150 | 14882 / 015561148825 | 150 W | 45 US gal / 150 L | 12.5 in / 32 cm |
| T200 | 14883 / 015561148832 | 200 W | 65 US gal / 200 L | 12.5 in / 32 cm |
| T300 | 14884 / 015561148849 | 300 W | 80 US gal / 300 L | 14 in / 35.5 cm |
The first two models share the same listed length despite doubling wattage and the rated aquarium maximum. T150 and T200 also share one length even though they have different power ratings and capacities. The T300 adds 100 W over the T200 but the listed maximum rises by 15 gallons; the longer 14-inch body is another material difference. These are reasons to keep each model identity distinct rather than assume that wattage alone predicts fit or that a nearby size can be substituted without checking the actual tank.
All five items are shown in Fluval USA's comparison with a 120 V / 60 Hz specification and with a separate 230–240 V / 50 Hz version. This guide addresses only the US electrical configuration. Match the product label and instructions to the actual heater, especially if an offer uses the same series name for a different regional plug or supply.
Shared T-Series controls and protection
Fluval describes the T models as fully submersible, with a large dial covering 72–90°F (22–32°C), a 360-degree indicator ring, and automatic power cut when water is absent. The ring indicates red when heating and blue once the selected setting is attained. It reports operating mode, not a numeric aquarium-water measurement. The reviewed product pages do not state a numeric temperature-accuracy tolerance; use an independent aquarium thermometer. Fluval also describes a heater guard as adding protection against accidental breakage. The North American manual identifies a glass tube, so the guard is not a shatterproof-body claim. Check whether the guard is part of the exact package being offered; the pages explicitly list mounting brackets and suction cups, while the spacer kit is optional.
The manual says to use the heater only in fresh water, while current US product-page copy cautions about electrical equipment near salt water. A separate Fluval English-language T300 page states use in fresh and saltwater aquariums. Those statements conflict, and the available evidence does not tell us whether that later statement applies to the North American units covered here. This comparison therefore treats freshwater as the supported use for all five US configurations and does not match them to saltwater needs. Seek exact-model confirmation before relying on the broader listing.
Installation and the meaning of the capacity label
According to the North American instructions, water must cover the marked minimum line but must not immerse the heater deeper than 1 m (39.5 in). The heater must not run outside water, despite the no-water power cut. Leave room for free circulation around the glass tube and do not let substrate, rocks or decorations touch it. Fluval recommends a location with water movement, a 30-minute wait after submersion before connecting power, and up to 12 hours for the aquarium to reach the selected setting before adjusting it. Disconnect equipment before placing hands in water, use a drip loop, and wait at least 30 minutes after unplugging before removing the heater.
Fluval warns that a room-to-setting difference over 10°F (6°C) may require more heating capacity. A cover, nearby cooling sources, circulation and other setup conditions matter. If the desired setting is not reached, the manufacturer suggests increasing wattage or adding a second heater. Therefore, the gallon figure is a screening maximum, not a performance guarantee. It does not show how quickly a particular tank will warm, whether temperature is uniform, or what setting is appropriate for particular livestock. Establish a target separately and verify actual water temperature with a thermometer.

Each review compares its exact wattage, item number, capacity and length with the shared family features. Manufacturer source images remain a separate open task: the image gallery is visible on Fluval's pages, but original image bytes for these exact models have not been obtained and checked. No sibling image is used as a substitute.
